Ortigia, the stone raft is a photographic portfolio about the historic center of Siracusa, my native city in Sicily.
Ortigia takes its name from the latin word Ortyx, which means quail. It is an island whose plan looks like a bird.
This body of work, developed during ten years, is the result of many comebacks and encounters, themes and subjects tied to my photographer quest of truth and reality. Always searching for a city life as it once was in my memories and as it has become: a living entity, unexpected and tragical, moving and rueful, who made me feel actor and viewer at the same time.
