This photographic portfolio documents the two celebrations of Saint Lucy in Syracuse: on December 13th, the saint is carried in a grand procession from the Cathedral to the Basilica at the Sepulchre, surrounded by a devoted and emotional crowd; and in May, during the so-called “Traslazione,” when the statue returns to the Cathedral. Two distinct moments—one solemn and wintery, the other intimate and spring-like—united by the same deep faith and popular tradition.
